outreach-spamIf you’ve run a semi popular site with a visible email or contact form then you’ve likely seen your fair share of spam. For years now my contact form has been getting assaulted by fellow SEOs, sometimes trying the latest tactics they cobbled together from their favorite SEO blogs.

You could say my blog is a sort of honey pot for these messages. In the past I would just laugh at them, even once and a great while maybe have an idea sparked, but mostly I’d ignore them. That’s up until now, now I had the great idea to post the best ones here so we can all laugh at them together!

Here they are in their raw beauty, I have categorized them:

Love your content! (and a proposal)

Hey,

Hope you are doing well! As an avid reader of your blog, I was thinking your readers might like to read something about “SEO and Security: Why it Matters”.

Your content on “The Black Hat SEO Community for Real Badasses” is awesome, but I think it would be cool to tie it all together with a piece about “Why You Need a VPN for SEO” or maybe “How to Protect Yourself While Building Links”.

If you’re too busy to blog about it, I’d love to write it for you – I’m a blogger for www.securethoughts.com with tons of experience. I just had a post featured on http://www.jeffbullas.com/2015/11/03/7-fundamental-security-errors-bloggers-must-stop-making/ and http://colorlabsproject.com/blog/surfing-through-your-smartphone-is-it-safe/.

Let me know if you are interested. I already know your blogging style, plus I understand what your readers love as I am one ;-)

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Cassie

Hey,
Just checking in to see if you’re interested in an article for your site?

I sent you an email a few days ago with some guest post ideas and haven’t heard back so I thought I’d check in.

I assure you that the content is great and free! (A Win-Win for you!)

If you’d like a guest post on something fun your readers would enjoy, just let me know and I’ll be happy to send one through. If you are not interested no problem, I will stop bothering you.

Thanks either way. All the best with your site.

Expert Roundups

Roundup

Hi Jacob,

I’m doing a roundup about RSS feeds and I think many people would love to know your answer to this question:

Which tool(s) do you use to read RSS feeds from your favorite blogs (and please explain why you picked that tool(s))?

Your answer can vary. From desktop software to a web service, to a mobile app or even to browser extensions. All your answers are welcome!

Of course, I’ll include a link back to your site.

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Hey Jacob,

How’s it going – it’s been a while!

I’m working on a monster ecommerce SEO post for my blog, Bootstrapping Ecommerce, and was wondering if you would like to provide a quote. I will link to your site and social profile, of course.

The question is: “What is an unconventional way you come up with keywords?”

Any length is fine, and you can send it over anytime this week.

Thank you!

Expert roundup participation

Hey Jacob,
I’m emailing you today because I’m putting together an expert roundup “Proven Tips to get more twitter followers that work in 2015”.

The question I’m asking is:
“What are the most effective methods of getting new Twitter followers for you?”.

I know you are busy so a response of 100 or so words is more than enough. The post will be at Temi.co.uk blog.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

An Essential SEO Guide For Your Tool Box

Hi Jacob,

I hope you are well.

I wanted to share with you a guide that we have recently launched here at AccuRanker. The guide looks at how to audit and analyse your competitors online content and what to do with your findings; it can be viewed here if you so wish – https://www.accuranker.com/seo-resources/competitor-benchmarking-guide/

It would be great to hear your thoughts on the guide and see if it something that could be of interest to your readers.

Thank you in advance,

Sebastian

A friendly suggestion for your roundup

Hi, Jacob.

Not to be too forward (although I probably kind of am, LOL), but I thought you might like my piece for your SEO roundup.

It’s actually a roundup itself of the most entertaining (but still edifying) blogs in SEO. Just a way of showing people out there that what we do isn’t totally boring. :)

It’s here: https://www.leapfroggr.com/10-most-entertaining-seo-blogs/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+leapfroggr+(Leapfroggr+Search+Engine+Marketing+Blog)

Anyway, just thought it might be a good fit. Thanks either way. :)

An exeriment about digital marketing.

Hello, Jacob.

Quick Suggestion for “Why Your Tiered Links Won’t Rank Shit”

Hi Jacob,

I’ll keep this short because I know you get a ton of emails from people looking for your feedback.

I came across your site today and really enjoyed “Why Your Tiered Links Won’t Rank Shit”. Excellent work on putting this together!

I was going through the resources you mentioned and noticed Matthew Woodward’s “The Ultimate Guide To Tiered Link Building Part 1” on the page.

I also really appreciated that resource as well!

In fact, it was one that inspired me to create a more thorough and up to date version.

I’d love to share it with you if you’re interested, do you mind if I send you the link?

Cheers,
Matt Banner

Well there you have it, some funny and some that you might be able to use. And from now on I will only add the best ones that I see come in. One final tip to leave you with when it comes to outreach. Put yourself in the persons shoes you’re emailing. Do you have anything for them? Or are you just totally wasting their time and asking for something?

You see with “broken link building” you’re at least helping the person fix some shit on their site. It’s an exchange. The trick is to find other clever ways to create this at scale and you’ve likely got yourself a winning horse. And maybe you’ll think twice about dropping a blast of blanket outreach spam as it might wind up here in the hall of fame!
