Is SEMrush the Best Tool for Keyword Research?
You bet your ass it is, he amount of money I’ve made using this tool is crazy. From analyzing big sites to doing simple keyword research projects, this tool quite literally crushes the game. Recently they have been rolling out tons of new features but their core keyword database is what I will always be using as a staple of my business. Using the filters is where it’s really at when it comes to harvesting keywords. For example, you can filter by containing a specific phrase and only top 5 positions. That is one of my favorites. Or see what keywords a specific page ranks for.

Other uses for the tool
Another thing I love it for is prospecting potential domain buys, you can easily see the history on a site and if it had an huge crashes which would signal a penalty. It’s like the ultimate BS detector for any website or service provider in question. Let’s say your contemplating hiring an SEO company, which sorry to say 99% chance you’re going to get scammed because they are all full of crap. For example sake though, let’s say you wanted to see how they are actually performing SEO wise. Pop their domain in SEMrush, boom you see they’re barely ranking for anything. Now would you want to hire this company? Probably not.
New features SEMrush continually rolls out
To stay competitive they are constantly pushing out new tools and resources to expand beyond just being a keyword research tool. Which honestly they kick so much ass it they probably don’t even need to. The two that I’m a fan of are their site auditing tool and the SEO content template tool which is very new. The audit tool isn’t pretty damn good considering it’s rolled into the subscription for no additional charge. If you’re on a budget then it’s perfect for having access to a solid audit tool without need an additional service. Next the SEO content template feature which is really new and crazy useful. It analyzes the top 10 results for a keyword and the content on those sites. Then it gives you a report on common phrases that are used. For me this is insanely powerful for finding good related keywords or LSI keywords I previously would have used the Google search planner for which was a lot more work.
