An SEO content funnel, that sure sounds cool. Well it is and I’ve used shitloads of them to achieve tons of top rankings while driving shit loads of traffic at the same time.
SEO Content Funnel Defined: A high quality group of web properties that drive traffic to a site or page while boosting up that pages or sites rankings.
The type of funnel I will be teaching you how to build is based on 5 different popular web 2.0 sites in which you will be publishing superb content on. Superb CONTENT is key here, if you publish crap content then just go find someone on Fiverr to use Senuke for you.
These are some baller sites that will accomplish two goals. One they will rank well on Yahoo and two you will get good backlinks from them.
Squidoo.com
InfoBarrel.com
EzineArticles.com
WordPress.com
This process is not easy, but if you invest the time and use it on your best niches, it will be sure to pay off. Here is a quick outline of the process…
Step 1. Find 4-8 mind blowing relevant keywords (you better not screw this up)
Step 2. Content and page creation – Craft a bomb piece of content around your keywords and publish a gorgeous page.
Step 3. Promotion and backlink building – Put your hat on, whatever color it may be and start building links.
Step 4. Optimization – Optimize for ideal click through rate through a keyword rich anchor (imagine that, clicks from a keyword rich anchor).
Step 1.
For the sake of teaching this method I have chosen a random niche. “Dog Food”
With a quick search I found a product and main target keyword to use, “dog food secrets”. Not something I would normally go after but for this example it will do.
Assuming we already have a page or website built around the keyword “dog food secrets”, the first step is to find some relevant keywords for the funnel. I will use Google instant suggestions and the keyword tool to get some ideas. Be right back.
Ok, here are 4 quick keywords I found to drive some nice traffic to our secrets page.
best hypoallergenic dog food
dog food guide
organic dog food reviews
overweight dog food
Advanced technique: Use the search modifier “site:” to find the number of results for each keyword on the corresponding web 2.0 site. The publish your content on the properties with the lowest numbers of results. Run the following queries on each keyword and compare the results.
site:http://hubpages.com “keyword”
site:http://www.infobarrel.com “keyword”
site:http://ezinearticles.com “keyword”
site:http://www.squidoo.com “keyword”
Step 2.
Now it’s time to craft some gorgeous content that Google will eat up like a tasty steak. Create informative, compelling content, chock full of images, subheaders, and other media giving visitors the best possible experience. Then place a call to action in the beginning of the posts with a keyword rich anchor.
If you can get this right, the pay off will be incredible. Targeted traffic to the product offering on the example Dog food secrets page, while also sending some of the best link signals around. A keyword rich anchor link that actually drives traffic to your site. This my friends, is very, very tough to create artificially.
Sure you can pay some joke company to create a bunch of shit web 2.0 properties. But these piece of shit properties will never get any traffic and your links will never actually get any clickthroughs. Now if Google can track this data, it’s an easy way to differentiate bad links from good links.
Step 3.
Build some links. Sorry, this requires a separate post all together on some tier 2 and 3 links you can push at your web 2.0s. Building links to the properties in your funnel is VERY important! They don’t have to be of the best quality links (unlike the content), just good enough to get the job done. Otherwise this whole endeavor is worthless.
Step 4.
This is where you really want to get the most value out of your beautifully crafted content funnel. Tweak the pages for optimal clickthrough rates on your keyword rich anchor link.
Here’s a quick example of a contextual link that I would place in the begging of a property:
“Before we dive into matters further, please see this article published on dog food secrets they don’t want you to know about.”
Hopefully you get the picture, like I said these properties accomplish two goals.
One, you get a keyword rich backlink to your site and two you get some really targeted traffic. It may take more effort than many other link building practices but when executed correctly the results are profound. It really is pretty awesome.
Maria says
When creating the web 2.0 sites, do you ever use the main target keyword as the name of the hub or lens?
For instance do you try to create the web 2.0 sites for the word dog food secrets or just the relevant keywords like
best hypoallergenic dog food
dog food guide
organic dog food reviews
overweight dog food
Thank you

With this technique we are creating “value adding” relevant properties to drive traffic and link juice. So I would focus the content/keyword of the properties around something different then the target page. Otherwise you are basically manually spinning the content and competing with yourself.
It depends on your approach though. In the past I have made multiple properties on the same keyword and used some interlinking between properties. But the goal was to lock up several rankings. With this method the focus is more on driving up one page or sites rankings.

Yo Jacob! I’m tryin to follow your process but am a little confused as to exactly where that
keyword rich backlink is going.
Is it to your own self hosted site, to another one of those web 2.0 properties, or straight to the site you’re promoting?
In other words, which page or site are you trying to drive up in the rankings?
Jacob King says
Hey jay,
The process can be for anything really. A money web 2.0 property, website, or even a sub url on a site.
Typically I create these tier 1 funnels around a super high quality Squidoo lens or similar web 2.0 site.
Diepak benie says
So if i am correct you do not necesarrily have to link to your money site, but a social site also works?
Jacob King says
Not sure what you mean, the social sites are def linking to the money site always.

Hi Jacob, I have a domain that I need to sell and its http://www.SeoFunnel.com
I think it really suits the concept you have covered in this article.
It would be great if you can help me selling the same or give me few ideas on how to sell this domain at a premium price. Also, if you could give me some idea on what should be my asking price.
Thanks and regards.
Jacob King says
No idea, flippa maybe?

Before dive into this method just wanted to make sure ” Does this kind of SEO technique works anymore ?”
Manny says
